Position Summary: The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for designing electrical and control systems for Appleton Manufacturing Division custom and semi-custom capital equipment, such as Core Cutters, Slabbers, and Battery-Powered Movers. The individual will be involved in projects starting at the pre-quote phase through final acceptance by the customer. While working with engineering team members, the Electrical Controls Engineer will focus on ensuring the latest electrical components and programming techniques are utilized. Developing and maintaining base programs from which all machines within a given category can use as a starting point, while also programming in standard options, will also be a key part of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of electrical systems (AC, DC & battery powered) with pneumatic and some hydraulic needs.
  • Development of PLC and HMI applications, as well as drives (servo and VFD).
  • Responsible for the programming of machines and associated system components.
  • Design of panel layouts and operator consoles.
  • Development of bills of materials.
  • Meet timelines and customer specifications for given assignments.
  • Assist external customers and internal service/assemblers with questions and issues.
  • Be a positive part of overall safety plan through involvement, ownership, and participation in making plant safer.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Travel will be required to assist in large system startups or troubleshooting of equipment, as needed.
  • Other duties, as assigned.


Requirements/Experience:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience required.

  • Sound understanding of electrical systems required (AC, DC, battery powered). Knowledge of pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems also preferred.
  • 3D Modeling/Design and 2D CAD Experience required. AutoDesk Platform experience strongly preferred.
  • PLC and HMI programming experience required. Allen-Bradley experience strongly preferred.
  • ERP experience required.
  • Proficiency in RSLogix 500 / 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio, Kinetix Servo Systems and PowerFlex VFD’s highly preferred.
  • Ability to read, and create electrical drawings
  • Lifting within OSHA guidelines

Position Summary: We are looking for someone who has some machine shop skill and experience and is looking for an opportunity to learn and grow. This individual will do different things every day, depending on needs in our shop. The successful team member is someone who enjoys differing challenges and is willing to learn a variety of new skills. Some of the primary responsibilities include safely handling the receipt of incoming deliveries, the preparation of outgoing shipments, and loading and unloading of trucks. This individual will work closely with all members of the production team daily. It would be ideal if this person already is a licensed forklift operator. This individual will rotate between various work centers depending upon daily production requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Package materials for shipment and build skids for shipping machinery.
  • Load / unload material received and shipped using a forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Provide backup to Shipper/Receiver as needed including arranging for shipments using UPS, FedEx, DHL, LTL, TL, and small package carriers and prepare required shipping documents.
  • Pull and deliver parts for machining and assembly operations in accordance with routings and prints.
  • Operate a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Operate hand drills, drill presses, power wrenches, band saws.
  • Clean-up and maintenance of machines used.
  • Operate metal cut-off saws, radial arm saw, power saws and nailers.
  • Empty the recycling and garbage containers. Coordinate container pickups with outside contractors.
  • Cycle counting various work centers and areas of the plant as assigned.
  • Proper reporting of materials used and labor (timecards).
  • Working on product and process development projects.
  • Attendance for scheduled workdays and ability to work over-time as necessary to meet deliveries.
  • Adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Such other tasks as may be assigned by supervision.


Requirements/Experience:

  • Safe forklift operation. Existing forklift license a plus.
  • Safe operation of overhead crane with proper load management.
  • Able to read work instructions and keep required records.
  • Able to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Able to measure with precision instruments.
  • Capable of arithmetic calculations (+, -, *, /)
  • Welding experience a plus.
  • Experience operating and maintaining spray paint equipment a plus.
  • Able to operate basic machine shop equipment.

Position Summary: This position is responsible for safely assembling, testing, and troubleshooting company products in accordance with routings, work instructions, drawings and specifications. This role will share in-field service duties with the other team members to support our installed base of products. Position requires about 10-15% travel, including domestic overnight travel. International travel/service support experience is a plus.

  • Must have a degree in an electrical/electro-mechanical field and/or minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Must have working understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Must have working understanding of electrical circuits and wiring practices.
  • Must have strong understanding of PLCs, HMI’s and Drives.
  • Must have experience with or general understanding of PLC ladder logic.

Position Summary: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for solving design challenges, adherence to drafting standards, and assisting Engineering, Customers, Sales and Customer Representatives with service and design issues. The individual will work on small teams with personnel from virtually all disciplines within the company, as well as customers and vendors on design, specification, and service questions.

  • Developing design and product specifications.

Requirements/Experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering B.S. or equivalent. General understanding of electrical principles a plus.
  • Skilled in the use of CAD drafting programs.
